Community Launch Event

Launch Event - Loop Head Living Lab: Farming and Community Initiative
Cross Digital Hub - Saturday the 26th April - at 1pm

Loop Head has been thrust onto the European stage, selected to lead a Living Lab project alongside the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and two other communities, Cloughjordan and Ballyhoura. This initiative will explore how farmers can address challenges on their land by trialling sustainable farming practices. With soil health under increasing scrutiny at the Department level—impacting basic payments, fertiliser rates, stocking calculations, organic matter levels, slurry storage, and nitrate action—there is a pressing need to find solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and economically viable.

Whether you have a general interest in soil health or are a farmer keen to participate in this research, join us for the local launch event at Cross Digital Hub on Saturday, 26th April at 1pm. The event will include an introduction to the Living Lab concept, an open forum discussion about potential soil health initiatives and a presentation from Agricultural Advisor Damien Coyne on the importance of soil testing for compliance in stocking rates and fertiser use.
